Method and Apparatus for Tempering Glass.

Abstract

Open ended glassware is tempered by heating it almost to the softening point and then placing it in a gaseous tempering apparatus in which the inverted glassware is supported and cushioned on a stream of chilling gas directed at it from below, while another stream of chilling gas is directed at its exterior surfaces from above.
