Transient Protection Device Current Interrupter.

Abstract

A current interrupter for a transient protective device (TPD) is disclosed which senses the heat rise in the TPD which occurs when the TPD is in the 'ON' state. A thermostatic switch is connected electrically in series with the TPD and is in thermal contact with the TPD. When the temperature of the TPD rises to a predetermined level, the thermostatic switch is actuated to interrupt the current flow through the TPD that could otherwise damage it. (Author)
