Compensation for Antenna Phase Shifter Failures.
Abstract
Methods are described for optimizing the performance of phased array antennas wherein one or more elements thereof have become stuck at fixed at fixed phases. The methods involve readjusting the relative phases of all operative elements using a single stuck element as a phase reference, shutting off one or more stuck elements if this will improve performance, and readjusting the phases of the operative elements in various ways depending on the fixed phases at which two or more antenna elements are stuck.
