Liquid Crystal Cell Apparatus and Method.

Abstract

An improved liquid crystal cell utilizes a vacuum deposited dielectric on cell electrodes to prevent contamination of the liquid formulation. The dielectric enables the cell to perform at lower excitation voltages, reduced electrode spacing, increased response time and enhanced life expectancy. The present invention permits the use of reactive electrodes by isolating the liquid crystal formulation from the contaiminating influences of reactive electrodes. (Author)
