Shaped Charge Warhead Construction.

Abstract

A shaped charge warhead comprises a fragmenting wall defining a space which contains a shaped charge liner that is conical in shape having a large diameter base. The space between the liner and wall is filled with high explosive with a portion of the space adjacent the liner base being disposed by a support ring which interconnects the linear base with the wall. The reduction of explosive near the line of base and the provision of the supporting ring improves the velocity configuration of a jet formed by the exploding warhead in that the velocity of the jet tail is reduced with respect to the velocity of the jet tip. The jet thus formed has increased an attrition capacity for antimaterial purposes.
