Radar Target Angle Measuring System.

Abstract

This application relates to a radar system for improving the accuracy of measurement of the angle of a target of the type which includes antenna beam switching means for transmission and reception of radar pulses over either one or the other of two directional beams of electromagnetic energy, each angularly displaced with respect to one another and overlapping one another within the expected target direction. A series of switching pulses occurring at the same repetition rate as the transmitted rf pulses and during the interval between successive ones of said transmitted rf pulses is applied to the antenna beam switching means in such a manner that the antenna beam direction is shifted back and forth for each successive switching pulse. The transmitted rf pulses may be phase modulated by a code. (Author)
