Evaporated As2S3 Luneburg Lenses for LiNbO3: Ti Optical Waveguides.

Abstract

The present invention provides an integrated optical device comprised of a specially-contoured, high index-of-refraction, thin circular overlay of As2S3 deposited as a Luneburg lens on a titanium-infused lithium niobate substrate. The lens is formed by the evaporation of arsenic trisulfide glass through two, thin, circular aperture masks, and its subsequent deposition onto the surface of a LiNbO3:Ti substrate.
