Phase Dependent Radio Navigation Apparatus with Balanced Active Voltage Probe Antenna and Impulse Noise Blanker.

Abstract

It is a principal object of this invention to provide apparatus for use in conjunction with an existing phase dependent, radio navigation system so as to effect improved reception of navigation signals on board helicopters, particularly when towing with a conductive tow cable. As another object the invention aims to provide an improved antenna for helicopter-borne radio navigation systems, which antenna avoids the introduction of certain errors during turning maneuvers. Still another object is the provision of noise blanker means that can be included in the R.F. (radio frequency) line between the antenna and the navigation receiver, without any modification to the receiver, for elimination of noise due to static discharge generated by the receiver carrying aircraft.
