Microminiature Gas Chromatograph Direct Insertion Probe for Mass Spectrometers.

Abstract

A combined gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer (GC/MS) including a microminiature or miniature GC directly coupled to an MS. The flow rate of the carrier gas from the GC is compatible with the intake rate of the MS. Because of this compatability no splitter/separater apparatus is required. In one embodient the GC is enclosed in a direct insertion probe and the output port of the microminiature GC is coupled to the input port of the MS by a microminiature capillary tube.
