Light Operated Measuring System Cross-Reference to Related Application.

Abstract

Fiber optics are used to interconnect the measurement point with signal conditioning, display and recording equipment. The system operates by transmitting light through fiber optics to a light modulator at the measurement point. This light modulator modifies the light being passed into or through it in proportion to the parameter being measured. The light, after passing through the modulator is transmitted to a light phase, amplitude comparator where it is compared with a reference light. The output of the light phase amplitude comparator is proportional to the parameter being measured. (Author)
