3,5,5-Trinitro-3-azaheptane-1,7-diol and a Method of Synthesis.

Abstract

An object of this invention is to provide a new energetic diol which can be used as a component in energetic propellant and explosive binders. A further object of this invention is to provide new polynitrodiols which resist deformylation by mild bases on nucleophiles. Yet another object of this invention is to provide a dissymmetric polynitrodiol which can be used to produce energetic polymers for propellant and explosive binders which have good low temperature properties. These and other objects of this invention are achieved by providing 3,5,5-trinitro-3-azaheptane-1,7-diol.
