Broadband Guided-Wave Optical Frequency Translator Using an Electro-Optical Bragg Array.

Abstract

An optical frequency translator which utilizes Bragg diffraction for a travelling index wave produced by an array of interdigitated electrode fingers on a thin optical guided-wave structure. An interdigitated grating is driven by at least a three-phase electrical signal that results in a unidirectional wave with a fixed Bragg angle determined by electrode spacing. The diffraction produces a single-sideband suppressed carrier optical output. (Author)
