Fuel Efficient Propulsor for Motor Boats.

Abstract

This patent application discloses an improved propulsor for motorboats which includes a plurality of cambered skegs or fins mounted forward of the propeller which are placed in a manner so that a counter-swirl is generated in the fluid in the direction counter to the swirl produced by the propeller rotation . The cambered skegs and the fairing strut are designed to reduce the swirl caused by the propeller in the slipstream of the fluid. Thus the discharge jet from the propeller will be essentially axial and losses associated with the swirl in slipstream are appreciably reduced.
