Apparatus for Retrieving, Placing, and Stocking Trays from an Automatic Storage and Retrieval Carousel.
Abstract
This patent application relates to manipulators for use in automated assembly lines, and more particularly, to an apparatus for retrieving, placing, and stocking trays from an automatic storage and retrieval carousel. Disclosed is material moving and transfer manipulator comprising a rotating turntable having two parallel tracks defined on the horizontal surface of the turntable, with one track on each side of the center. The turntable can be rotated and positioned at 0 degree and 180 degree. Each track is furnished with a tray gripping/driving device which is used to retrieve and insert trays into a compartment of a carousel or onto an indexing table. Vertical displacement of the turntable is achieved by means of an elevator.
