Opacity Control Technique for Jet Engine Test Cells.

Abstract

An improvement for jet engine test cells calls for the introduction of heated ambient air into the jet engine exhaust to reduce the opacity of the vented exhaust. Introducing reasonable amounts of cool ambient air does not reduce opacity. Heating is provided by a manifold about the exhaust duct that draws in ambient air or that recirculate a part of the exhaust. This approach is effective and can modify existing structure without excessive cost. Keyword: Patent applications.
