Resonance Damper.

Abstract

A vibration damping system is disclosed in this patent application motion sensitive devices by reducing transmissibility of oscillations near a resonant frequency using: an outer housing, an inner housing, a vibration damping mounting, and a particle collision system. The inner housing encompasses the motion sensitive device, and is mounted within the outer housing with a vibration damping mounting. This vibration damping mounting may be a spring, dash pot or a rubber mounting which damps oscillations of the inner housing. The particle collision system reduces transmissibility of oscillations near a resonant frequency using a container which holds a measure of tungsten grains which collectively have a weight of about 25 percent of that of the motion sensitive device. This container is fixed to the inner housing and the particle collision of the high density particles further damps the vibration of the inner housing to produce significant vibration attenuation around the resonant frequency.
