Chemical Inhibitor for Solid Propellants.

Abstract

It is an object of the present invention to provide a method for inhibiting burning on at least a portion of the exposed surface of a specimen of solid rocket propellant during deflagration. Solid propellant test strands are inhibited, i.e., prevented from burning in an uncontrolled fashion, by coating the strands with a liquid composition containing a partially cured phenol-formaldehyde in a volatile solvent, then volatizing the solvent.
