Saw Grating-Waveguide for Reduced Filter Diffraction.

Abstract

A surface acoustic wave (SAW) device (e.g., filter) comprises a piezoelectric substrate such as lithium niobate, an input and an output interdigital transducer deposited on the substrate, in alignment, and a SAW shorted-grating waveguide disposed between the transducers. The shorted-grating waveguide has the same periodicity (lambda/2) as that of the input/output transducers. The waveguide is electrically isolated from the transducers. (RH)
