Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) with Improved Temperature Compensation.

Abstract

A TCXO including a series capacitance is improved by having the temperature sensitivity of the series load capacitance be chosen in accordance with the formula T sub CL = T sub Co + 2 T sub K/(1-alpha sub 0) wherein TCL is the temperature coefficient of the series load capacitor, T sub Co is the temperature coefficient of the resonator static capacitance, TK is the temperature coefficient of the piezoelectric coupling for the resonator, and alpha sub 0 is the center value of load factor alpha wherein the load factor, alpha, is defined as alpha = sub Co sub Co + sub CL wherein sub Co is the resonator static capacitance and sub CL is the series load capacitance.
