Certain Di-Phthalonitriles.

Abstract

An object of this invention is the di-phthalonitrile monomers, prepolymers and polymers which are devoid of ether and/or phenoxy groups. Another object of this invention is the high temperature polymers which can withstand temperatures in excess of 300 deg C without deterioration of thermal and oxidative stability. Another object of this invention is the polymeric phthalonitriles which are devoid of voids. Another object of this invention is the polymeric phthalonitriles which have at least one aromatic imide linkage in the bridging groups. Another object of this invention is the polymeric phthalonitriles which are more resistant to oxidative attack than epoxies, bismaleimides and conventional thermosetting polyimides.
