Method and Devices for the In Situ Repair of Damage Threads.

Abstract

This patent application discloses a method and device for rehabilitating damaged threaded connections in situ. After the threaded connection is separated, a thin metal strip having a hardness, that is less than or equal to the hardness of the threads, is inserted into and against internal threads. The threaded connection is then reassembled. As the external threads advance along the internal threads, the metal strip deforms into gaps between the threads particularly in any area of damage thereby to rehabilitate the threaded connection.
