Improved Composite Fabrication Process.

Abstract

In a filament winding machine for fabricating a composite product on a rotating mandrel the dry tow of filaments is electrically charged prior to entry in the resin bath. The bath is oppositely charged to the mutually repelled filaments in the bath with the result that improved resin to filament adherence is achieved, and the resulting product is stronger due to the absence of resin voids in the product.
