Optimal Design of a Structure for System Stability for a Specified Eigenvalue Distribution,

Abstract

A method based on the optimality criterion approach is presented to design a minimum weight structure with constraints on system stability. The stability constraints are stated with the requirement that the critical eigenvalues be separated by a specified interval and the critical buckling mode be the preselected one. The use of the method is illustrated by solving sample problems. (Author)
