Committee Chairman Report on Snow Metamorphism,

Abstract

These sessions were marked by a wide diversity of opinion, a general lack of clear agreement of the part of the participants on which directions developments in snow thermodynamics ought to take, and some limited agreement on priorities for future research. While the top priority was in the theoretical realm, the rest of the current needs were clearly grouped around practical understanding of snow behavior and quantitative data collection. The clearest product of the discussions was the recognition that the science of snow thermodynamics is hampered by a dearth of comprehensive, quantitative observations in the laboratory and field.
