Cylindrical Resonators,

Abstract

Due to its ability to produce repeated cylindrical imploding-exploding shock waves, the cylindrical resonator may reach high temperatures. The present investigation was undertaken to improve the performance of the resonator so that it can produce highly symmetrical shocks for a wide range of jet stagnation pressures. This was achieved by increasing the number of inlets to the plenum chamber and by introducing a step into the jet stream to maintain the oscillations in the subsonic jet range.
