Some Applications of Ejector Technology to STOL and V/STOL Aircraft Projects,

Abstract

A discussion of some elements of ejector technology, as developed at DHC (DeHavilland Aircraft Co.), is presented. Three operational areas are considered, i.e. (a) Static or hovering condition; (b) Low forward speed (STOL regime); (c) High subsonic cruise. Subsequently, three project study aircraft are introduced to illustrate the application of ejectors in their respective operational areas. These aircraft are: (a) An advanced turbo fan powered STOL transport; (b) A STOVL supersonic combat aircraft; and (c) A STOVL subsonic support aircraft.
