Computer Controlled Optical Time Domain Reflectometer Monitoring of Lightguide Cable Installations,

Abstract

A computer controlled Optical Time Domain Reflectometer was used to monitor and measure fiber loss during the first Bell System installation of lightguide cable using standard plowing methods. The tests showed that the plowing operation had no measurable effect on fiber loss. (Author)
