A General Computer Program for Use in Determining Track Width Plow-Minefield Effectiveness Criteria,

Abstract

The U.S. Army Mobility Equipment Research and Development Center (USAMERDC) has developed a computer program for use in assessing the effectiveness of a track width mine clearing plow moving through an area containing mixed mine types/fuze mechanisms. This program includes important modifications and extensions of some of the methods currently used for obtaining countermeasure-minefield effectiveness criteria and yields statistical information that cannot be determined from other existing models. The approach to this problem makes use of a Monte Carlo computer simulation technique developed at the USAMERDC. Because of a need to investigate current and future threats for ascertaining mine-target interactions within a minefield, the computer program has been written in such a way that the only additional coding required is the so-called threat subroutine, against which the countermeasure effectiveness of the target can be determined.
