Decision Risk Analysis of the An/TSQ-73,

Abstract

The AN/TSQ-73 program had a requirement for the production of two prototype systems for ET/EST and other test programs. A proposal was made for the fabrication of a third prototype to be used to supplement the previous two prototypes in the testing program in order to reduce the testing time. This analysis was initiated to investigate time and cost considerations associated with this proposal. Considerations of particular interest are as follows: (a) The time and cost of completion of ET/EST for the two and three prototype options; (b) The time and costs accrued through completion of the Tactical Air Control System/Tactical Air Defense System (TACS/TADS) tests for the two and three prototype options; and (c) The time and costs through completion of ET/EST with the third prototype refurbished and used as a production model. There are two alternatives open: (a) Accept the proposal and produce three prototypes, or (b) Reject the proposal and continue the testing program with two prototypes.
