Gear Lubrication and Cooling Experiment and Analysis,

Abstract

The objectives of the work reported herein were to (1) further develop a gear-temperature analysis computer program which incorporates different heat-transfer coefficients for air/oil and oil-jet cooling, (2) combine that program with a program developed to determine the impingement depths, and (3) experimentally measure gear-tooth temperatures to compare them with those predicted using the improved analysis.
