Improved Course Test Design and Development,

Abstract

The advent of the POSEIDON and TRIDENT systems required further refinements to the training program and the name was changed to the Strategic Weapons System Training Program (SWSTP). The Strategic Systems Project Office (SSPO) was designated to implement and provide overall technical control of the program. This paper describes the design and development of new end-of-course tests for use within the SWSTP. Much attention has been focused upon these tests because they are one of the most visible products of the evaluation component and they provide a great deal of the data for assessing how well individual courses and SWSTP, are performing. The SWSTP is a systems approach to training composed of five major elements: The Personnel Performance Profiles; The Training Path System; Curricula; The Personnel Qualification Guides; and The Personnel and Training Evaluation Program.
