Enlisted Military Selection: Impacts of Changing Aptitude Standards Since 1940

Abstract

The present report historically tracks the changes in minimum aptitude qualifications for military service and discusses some of the factors accompanying such changes. Standards have changed in the past and they are likely to change in future. An historical track of the shifts in minimum qualifications may enable manpower analysts to recognize the conditions which may lead to lower or more complex aptitude standards.
