A Mechanically Scanned, Shaped Beam, 95GHz Antenna,

Abstract

This paper discusses the design and performance of a 95 GHz mechanically scanned, shaped beam antenna which requires no electrical wiping contacts or rotary joints. The antenna was required to produce a shaped, 60 degrees wide, beam in elevation and a 10 degrees half-power beam width in azimuth, scanning over 180 degrees in the azimuth plane. The peak gain required was 11dB (CP). Design approaches and theory are given, together with measured results of developmental models.
