The Design of a Low Loss and Lightweight Conformal Array Aperture,

Abstract

The design and optimization of a large conformal array aperture is presented. The array lattice is designed and optimized by using a computer program to meet the gain and sidelobe requirements with a minimum number of antenna elements. The antenna is low loss, lightweight and low profile which are desirable for airborne and ground mobile applications. The trade-offs and selection of a lightweight antenna substrate with low loss and desired RF characteristics are given.
