An Empirical Investigation of First Term Attrition
Abstract
The reseacrh reported in this paper represents an attempt to identify 'high risk' attrition factors in first term enlistees. In contrast to previous studies, this research looks at a comparison between soldiers still in the Army, early discharges, and soldiers completing their tour (ETS). The variables being investigated include soldier demographics, job characteristics, work environment, attractiveness of civilian opportunities, quality of location of assignment, and soldier gender.
