Evolution of Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems,

Abstract

This paper is concerned with the evolution of those manufacturing industries which are involved in the production of discrete items of high-technology mechanical devices in small quantities. By definition, manufacturing industry involves organised activities. The organisation extends to all phases of the activity from the identification of a saleable product and the provision of after-sales service, and it involves many extremely complex relationships.
