Analysis of Buried Reinforced Concrete Arch Structures under Dynamic Loads,

Abstract

A damped single degree-of-freedom model was developed to represent the gross dynamic behavior of shallow buried reinforced concrete arches subjected to specified nonuniform pressure distributions. Structural parameter were developed for a generic structure based upon available information in the literature and first principal calculations. Values of maximum crown deflection, calculated from numerical integration of the differential equation of motion, were compared with similar results from field experiments. Results utilizing structural parameters selected on this basis of the recommendations in this study provide the best agreement. (Author)
