Mechanisms That Limit Potentials on Ionospheric Satellites,

Abstract

Mechanisms that limit the electric potential on the body of an ionospheric satellite are considered. For spinning satellites with dielectric coatings it is shown that the currents of rotating charge embedded in the dielectric surface play a role in limiting the spacecraft ground potential relative to the surrounding plasma.
