P-Valued Input, Q-Valued Output Threshold Logic and Its Application to the Synthesis of P-Valued Logical Networks,
Abstract
In this paper, we describe an application of the p-valued input, q-valued output threshold elements (2 equal to or less than p, 3 equal to or less than p), namely (p,q)-logical elements, to the synthesis of the p-valued logical networks. The idea of the (p,q)-logic stems from the considerations that on the threshold logic the extension of the input value to the many-valued one is quite easy, while a similar extension concerning outputs is very difficult. It is shown that under some restricted situation, the optimum value q* of q can be determined to construct the minimum cost p-valued network using the (p,q)- threshold elements. (Author)
