Ternary Transmission in Local Area Networks,

Abstract

This paper proposes a number of ternary codes for the transmission of binary data in local area networks. The proposed codes are suitable for asynchronous transmission. It is very easy for the receiver to recover the transmission clock, without the need for phase-locked loops and related hardware. Provision is also made for unique representations for message delimiters, or flags. The main advantage of the proposed approach is the simplification of the transmitter and the receiver hardware.
