EPI (Emulsion Polymer/Isocyanate) - A New Structural Adhesive,

Abstract

Ashland Chemical Company is marketing a new family of structural adhesives under the trademark Megabond. These adhesives are referred to by the generic term Emulsion Polymer/Isocyanate (EPI). The EPI adhesives were evaluated under the recognized ASTM standards for structural durable adhesives. They meet or exceed the requirements of these standards which tells us that we do have a new structural adhesives. Test data are presented which prove the superior qualities of EPI adhesives in terms of strength, creep resistance, accelerated aging and working properties. These EPI adhesives have earned the name 'forgiving adhesives.'
