Training Acquisition Personnel through a Local College,

Abstract

There are two important keys to effective and cost conscious acquisition of goods and services for the Air Force: The first is a work force trained in current acquisition skills; the second is a reservoir of qualified people for entry into the acquisition career field. To enlarge the pool of qualified people and to provide training opportunities for people in the career field, our Directorate initiated action to establish an Associate Degree Program in Purchasing and Contracting at Oscar Rose Junior College. The program is now in being and a number of our people, both clerical and professional, are attending classes offered through this program. (Author)
