Central Demand Data Base (CDDB) End Item Code (EIC),

Abstract

One of the most difficult tasks facing Army Logisticians in the accurate determination of the repair parts stockage levels to support the equipment in the hands of the soldier. Decisions on total repair parts consumption are based on demands, but repair parts for individual fielding of equipment in operational units are based upon estimates known as Failure Factors (FF's). These FF's established during the initial deployment of equipment are used throughout that equipment's life cycle. To update FF's, individual repair parts consumption must be identified to a specific end item application. The problem has been that there is no data source sufficiently reliable and valid to identify and collect data to update FF's. The End Item Code was designed to accomplish the identification and capture of individual repair parts consumption by specific end items, and provide the Army managers with an accurate record of repair parts consumption throughout the life cycle of an end item.
