The Influence of Cutouts on Transient Response of Hemispherical Shells,

Abstract

To evaluate performance of enclosure structures due to an internal blast, the dynamic response of a continuous hemispherical configuration has been compared to the response of the same configuration, but with a large access opening. The results indicate substantial alteration of the response behavior and stress concentration effects in the vicinity of the cutout region. (Author)
