Some Issues in Research on Effects of Sustained Work and Sleep Loss on Performance,

Abstract

This paper argues that (1) effects of sustained operations are minor as compared to those of sleep loss and diurnal rhythm, and that (2) such effects are selectively related to the nature of performance demands. Some examples from the recent literature are discussed and some future research needs are outlined.
