Quantitative Estimation of Properties of Ultrasonic Scatters,

Abstract

The principal purpose of this task is to assemble a database of both theoretical and experimental ultrasonic scattering results and prepare these data for quantitative analysis using adaptive learning network techniques (e.g. Project I Unit II Task 3. It is expected that, as a result of these joint tasks, it will be possible to identify elements of the data that are significant in obtaining details of the defect scattering center's size, shape, and orientation. Some efforts were also directed toward investigating simple, non-adaptive learning techniques for inferring at least the size of the scattering object from the scattering data.
