Abstract

Standard samples containing defects of known size, shape, and location are requirements for the evaluation and calibration of NDE test equipment. In this task, methods for producing such samples from Ti-6A1-4V have been developed, and a number of standard samples containing a wide variety of defect shapes produced. Methods of producing standard samples from steel and aluminum alloys have also been investigated.
