Identifying Variables Influential to an Officer Promotion Nomination Board,

Abstract

This study surveyed the decision strategy of an Air Force major command promotion nomination board to below-the-zone major. The board members responded to survey questions to provide influence ratings for 15 promotion folder variables. Analyses addressed: time 1/time 2 influence measurements; board members' intraclass correlation; and measuring specific interaction effects using the Policy Specifying modeling technique; and converged on a subset of influential variables. Additional uses of this approach are also discussed. (Author)
