Design and Robustness Analysis of Reduced Order Controllers for Large Flexible Space Vehicles,

Abstract

In the control design of a large flexible space vehicle, a finite element model is truncated and the control system is designed on the basis of the reduced order model. This paper discusses the step - by - step application of frequency-shaped Linear - Quadratic - Gaussian methodology, as well as payoffs and cost of this method. The procedure for choosing and forming both state and control frequency - weightings is shown. Treating the unmodelled dynamics of the structure as a source of plant uncertainty, stability robustness evaluation was discussed. Practical usefulness of the singular-valued closed-loop performance analysis and its possible improvement are also discussed. (Author)
