Abstract

The acquisition manager has a difficult task in determining the type(s) and amount of software and documentation to meet mission requirements. In April 1979 the Computer Software Management Subgroup of the Joint Logistics Commanders Joint (JLC-JPCG-CRM9 sponsored a joint government-industry workshop in Monterey, California to address selected problem areas in the acquisition and development of defense system software. As a result of this workshop's recommendations, the JLC initiated the development of uniform Military Standards.
